近年，在日ネパール人は増加しており，国籍別の在留外国人登録者数で第6 位の大きなエスニシティ集団となった．その在留資格の特色から家族の呼びよせが可能であるため子どもの比率は高く，その教育が課題となっている．本稿ではかれらの教育戦略や教育課題に迫る．まず前半ではネパール人の教育戦略の特色をインタビューから描いている．その特色として，多言語(なかでも英語) をマスターすることや，家族の再移住を含めた本国や第三国での進学・進路が見据えられていることが示された．本稿の後半では，カレー店で働く親たちの子どもを多く受け入れている外国人枠校や定時制高校などの実践事例を通じて，ネパール人の子どもたちの教育課題やそれへの対応をみた．在留資格・階層・出身地方等による教育戦略の異同や，日本での生存戦略のなかでのかれらの選択，そして中等教育機関における好実践が明らかにされた． |

In recent years, the number of Nepali residents in Japan has increased significantly, and are now recognized as the sixth- largest ethnic group in the country. Due to the characteristics of their residency status, which allows for family reunification, the proportion of children is relatively high compared to other nationality. This may lead to potential educational issues. This paper examines the educational strategies and challenges faced by Nepali residents in Japan. The first half of the paper explores the distinctive features of Nepali educational strategies based on interview data. The findings indicate a strong emphasis on acquiring multilingual skills, particularly proficiency in English, as well as planning educational and career pathways that extend beyond Japan, including onward family migration. The second half of the paper analyzes educational challenges faced by Nepali children and responses to them through case studies of school educational practices. The study reveals variations in educational strategies according to residence status, socio- economic class, and region of home country. It also highlights the choices families make within their broader survival strategies in Japan, as well as effective practices in secondary education institutions. |
