わが国の自殺死亡数は,1998年に初めて3万人を超えた。これは前年の35%増という急激なものであり,それ以降3万人を割っていない。また,それまでは農村部における高齢者の自殺死亡が多かったものが,1998年以降は都市部の中高年層の男性が関与しており,都市部における自殺解明が急務となった。そこで,本稿は,大阪府下にて,1998年以降の自殺率の推移が対照的な2地区を抽出し,比較検証することによって,都市部における自殺要因の社会構造を見出すことにあった。結果,2つの地域には,経済的不平等が存在し,そのことが間接的にしても自殺誘引になっているのではないかとの結論を得た。しかし,自殺者本人に直接結びつくような情報が開示されていないなかで,分析として限界があったことも事実である。 |

In 1998 the number of suicides in Japan exceeded 30,000 for the first time - a 35% increase compared to the previous year - and it has remained high ever since. The suicide rates had traditionally been high in rural areas. However, since 1998 the increase in the suicide rates of males aged 55-59 years, in particular, has been significantly prominent in urban and suburban areas in Tokyo, Osaka, etc. Therefore, we have selected two areas in Osaka prefecture, which contrast with each other in the transition of suicide rates, to analyze socio-economic factors. As a result, we have discovered economic inequality, to which the suicides in urban areas may be partly attributed. |
