Marked contamination was found on the fingers before washing with running water. After defecation the contamination observed was not necessarily only by E. coli. Contamination from coins or bills was as much as that from the toilet door knobs in a hospital or at home. Washing hands with soap, then running water and drying were effective for removing bacterial contamination on fingers.
